Welcome to Envision

UPDATE:  June 16, 2022

On behalf of the current and future Osborn residents who call Rye their home and all our employees who work in Rye, I would like to thank the Rye City Council for its supermajority vote of six to one in favor of The Osborn’s zoning text amendment application. This has been a collaborative process that began three-and-a-half years ago and has included many City Council meetings, Planning Commission meetings, as well as extensive input from the councilmembers and our neighbors. This approval reaffirms The Osborn’s partnership with the City of Rye and our standing as a good community neighbor, and could not have been achieved without the hard work and dedication of our staff, our Board of Trustees, and the community as a whole.

As we have discussed throughout these many months, this approval is only the first step in our ability to improve our campus for the future.  We now turn to the site planning phase which will take time and input from our residents, staff, neighbors, and the Rye Planning Commission. We look forward to this next chapter of collaboration and appreciate the flexibility the new zoning allows for envisioning and planning The Osborn’s future.

The Osborn has a rich past in the community, but now we must look to the future. Envision is based on the belief the best days of The Osborn are ahead of us. It has been nearly 25 years since The Osborn has updated our facilities to provide the highest quality of service and care to our 400+ residents and offer the best work environment for our 750+ employees.

#OsbornEnvision

We’re excited to empower our 2022 initiative with a celebratory campaign that we’ve called #OsbornEnvision. It features personal testimonials from our residents, family members, staff, and civic and business partners across the Rye community. Their testimonies inspire us with their love, passion, and support for The Osborn’s Envision initiative.

While The Osborn enjoys a beautiful campus operating in harmony between architecture and nature, its true essence is the residents who are wives, husbands, mothers, fathers, grandparents, brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, friends, and active neighbors throughout the Rye community.

Over the last 20 years, a lot of change has occurred, so the time has come for The Osborn to write the next chapter of our legacy of care for our residents, as well as continued partnership with the City of Rye. We owe it to our current and future families to have the flexibility for our campus to evolve, ensuring we can meet the future needs of seniors.

If you have any questions or want to show your support for our thoughtful updating of the campus, please feel free contact our Envision team at envisionteam@theosborn.org. We look forward to working with our residents, staff, families and the community to make sure The Osborn is here and thriving for many generations to come. Be sure to follow us on our Facebook page, too.

What Residents & Employees Are Saying

The Osborn matters to us because we can continue to be active and enjoy our independence, but if we need care it’s all here and we are near our family

The staff is what makes this place so special, yes the grounds, the buildings, and the physical aesthetics are all lovely, but the staff is what sets it apart, they really care about us.

Bob and Mary M., Sterling Park Residents
  • The Osborn matters to me because I have lived in the Rye community for over 50 years, and I still want to be a part of the community that I love.  I am just as much a part of Rye at The Osborn as I was when I lived on Ellen Court with my husband and three children.

#osbornenvision

Janet C., Sterling Park Resident

The Osborn matters to me because I think we all secretly think what happens to me if? I know here, I don’t have to worry about that, I know I am safe, not just physically safe, mentally, socially, the staff aren’t just staff, and they really care about us. I can live my life because I know things are taken care of so that I can enjoy the life and things I still love doing.

The Osborn has a rich history, it continues to grow but it’s not trying to be something it’s not, I like that because it’s true to itself and its mission.

#osbornenvision

Jack S., Sterling Park Resident

The Osborn matters because I know I won’t be a burden to any of my family if my needs change or I need care, it will all be here for me when I need it.  The quality of staff is unmatched, the attention to detail, the maintenance of the buildings and grounds all make this a special place to live.

The Osborn matters because I can still enjoy all the same things I did in my townhouse in Rye Brook, but I don’t have to manage the repairs, or even be home for them, the staff is so wonderful I just leave my door open if I am busy, they fix what needs to be fixed and lock up for me. I go about my day and enjoy all the activities they have to offer. Osborn staff has never left my apartment without saying “Is there anything else you need before I leave.”

#osbornenvision

Peg B., Sterling Park Resident

The Osborn has been, is now, and will continue to be a beacon of love, caring, and hope for so many residents. It must remain relevant to the times so it may continue on its wonderful mission to provide dignity and respect to our current and future residents.

#osbornenvision

Richard L, Executive Chef

The Osborn matters to be because I feel part of a community, I feel important and heard, as the staff listens, respond to our needs and wants to make this feel like home.  I also feel part of something bigger, I enjoy the Rye Community and its assets as well beyond the Osborn.

The Osborn matters to me because it extends the quality of life that matches my best life prior to moving here and I am not giving up anything, actually I have enhanced my life in so many ways, as it has far exceeded my expectations, and I know no matter what needs may come, I will always be taken care of.

#osbornenvision

Ed P., Sterling Park Resident

As time changes so does needs and wants of residents new and existing, and we would love to see some new upgraded and much needed additions to preserve the future, much like the earlier pathway 2000 project, which would allow The Osborn to continue to be an asset to the Rye community with over 400 residents that pay taxes, vote and are an integral part of the larger Rye community who avail themselves of many services and businesses in Rye.  We all have a vested interest in staying viable for not just the residents now but in the future and for the residents of The Osborn and of Rye. The competition is growing and to remain a top rated and viable community within this wonderful Rye Community, we have to grow and keep this the best option for all seniors.

#osbornenvision

Randy and Sandy M., Sterling Park Residents

If I had to tell someone who did not know about the Osborn I would share with them “To think that behind these tremendous red stone buildings could be so cozy. Open the doors, the warmth comes right out”  That’s what I would tell them, “I thought this was just on my tour, but no, this is the way it is here, everyone cares, your neighbors, and the staff, they truly care they are so special”

TheOsborn matters because these aren’t just big buildings, it’s the people, it’s the care and the extraordinary staff, services, and how they make me feel like I will always be cared for and cared about”

Natalie S., Sterling Park Resident

The Osborn Campus is more than a hundred years old. As times change, the requirements of residents have also changed. Prospective residents are seeking expanded amenities and updated residences so it is critical we provide them to stay competitive with other senior living communities.

#osbornenvision

Bill D., Director of Facilities and Property

It’s important for The Osborn to grow to stay current with the needs of the residents, both today and the future.

#osbornenvision

Angella A., Osborn Home Care

I currently live in New Rochelle. As healthcare continues to change, our resident population will be more acute. The rezoning project will allow The Osborn to position itself to care for and meet the needs of medically complex residents.

#osbornenvision

Brittaney J., Resident Relations Manager

Working at The Osborn for the last 22 years I have seen how the wants and needs of our residents have progressed. Today the people moving to The Osborn are active and want to move to a community that offers a multitude of choices and options in dining, clubs and activities. The Osborn needs to meet those demands in order to be the best choice in continuing care retirement communities in the area.

#osbornenvision

Bruce D., Assistant Director, Facilities and Property

I am the Director of Life Enrichment and have been working at The Osborn for the last 13 years.  I am currently living in the Bronx.  The Osborn needs future growth on our campus so we can keep roots in our community to continue to preserve and enrich the lives of the ever changing aging population.

#osbornenvision

Lisa H., Director of Life Enrichment

I have worked at The Osborn for 14 years as a Sales Counselor and lived and thrived in the Rye community for 24 years.  It is important for The Osborn to have growth on our campus in order to offer what seniors will be looking for in the coming years to remain one of the premier communities.

#osbornenvision

Supria H., Sales Counselor

I have worked at The Osborn for 12 years as Social Programs Coordinator for Sterling Park Independent Living.  I have lived in Rye for 42 years.  Future growth is so important for The Osborn because it is all about baby boomers – the next round of new residents; we have to be able to provide and offer amenities that they are accustomed to and looking for.

#osbornenvision

Susie M., Social Programs Coordinator for Sterling Park

I have worked at The Osborn for the last 10 months as a Chauffeur and have lived in Rye for 56 years.  It is vital for the expansion of The Osborn for future growth and flexibility to stay current.

William M., Chauffeur

I am the Staffing Coordinator for Osborn Home Care.  I have working for The Osborn for 10 years and currently live in Mt. Vernon.  Future growth is important for our campus in different areas such as activities, social enhancement, building maintenance, expansion and new employees.  All of this contributes to campus growth and success.
