The Scott Wenzel Big Band was started in 1938 by Harrison resident Frank Casale and played at the Edison Hotel in New York City. Casale gave up the band sometime in the 1940s but reactivated it in the early 1980s. Since the 1990s, the band has been led by lifelong Rye resident Scott Wenzel, a saxophonist, world-renowned record collector and record producer whose reissues for the Mosaic label have earned three Grammy Award nominations in recent years. The band has played at Glen Island Casino, Westchester Country Club, Windows on the World and countless other concerts, weddings and dances. Members have included legendary jazz greats Eddie Bert, Aaron Sachs, Johnny Amorosa, Nino Pallotti and Milt Kabak.
