As we age, we still want our independence, and many older Americans choose to stay in their homes and “Age in Place.” Remaining in a family home makes them feel happy and fulfilled.
But as we get older, performing certain daily tasks is not as easy as it once was. Cooking, cleaning and laundry become taxing and require more energy. Bathing and dressing can become difficult when we have physical limitations.
While family and friends may be willing to help, it can be wearing on them. Quality time is replaced by chores and care time.Having your own personal care worker is a way to have ongoing care in your own home.
Osborn Home Care provides its entire staff with 5-star proprietary, intensive training. We are confident that each home care worker provides dependable, exceptional care and personal services for our clients.
In addition, Osborn Home Care has been training caregivers to provide a unique program specializing in dementia care. Caregivers receive in-depth Person Centered Care Dementia Care Training provided by an essentiALZ Alzheimer's Association certified trainer over a six-week period. Upon completion the caregivers can sit for an exam facilitated by the Alzheimer's Association Education center and receive certification in specialized care.
Osborn Home Care caregivers who go through the training are better equipped to handle some of the challenges caring for clients with dementia by providing them with useful tools for redirection, client engagement and cognitive stimulation for activities. Person-Centered Dementia Care is a way of providing care focused on knowing the UNIQUE person through a respectful, close relationship that fosters normalcy in their daily life, choice, purpose, belonging, security and strengths. We currently have about 80 caregivers who have completed the training and more than 30 who have taken and passed the exam.
