The Residents Association of Sterling Park at The Osborn hosted its annual presentation of the Student Academic Achievement Awards last Thursday morning. Forty students, children or grandchildren of employees, received checks to be used to advance their efforts in college and graduate school. For some, it was their first year receiving the checks while others had been recognized for multiple years as they progressed in their education.
"Many of the students who received the award are the first in their family to be able to go on to higher education. It is especially heartwarming to see this next generation embarking on the path to future success," noted Jane Fox, Vice President of Marketing and Fund Development.
A number of students were present to receive the award and the pride among family members made it a joyous occasion for relatives and residents alike.
Colleges represented ranged from Cornell and University of Pennsylvania, to a number of SUNY schools and other colleges in the area and across the country.
Sterling Park is the independent living community at The Osborn, with 44 garden homes and 140 apartments situated on its beautiful, 56-acre campus.
