Lisa Berkman - Professor of Public Policy, Epidemiology and Global Health and Population of the Harvard Chan School. Much of her current work relates to "aging societies."
The world is facing a demographic transition where there are now more people over 60 than under five globally. Most countries, including the United States, are now aging societies. This transition is the result of both improvements in life expectancy and lower birth rates. Aging societies call for us to rethink the roles of older men and women in our society as well as the opportunities for all Americans to think about life long educations, more flexible patterns of work and new family and friendship dynamics.
